HbA1c (3-month sugar average): Your 3-month blood sugar average

HbA1c, or glycated haemoglobin, measures the share of your red blood cells that have sugar stuck to them. Since red blood cells live for about three months, this test shows your average blood sugar over that whole stretch. No single good or bad day can fool it.
